How CCAG handles personal information

Chain & Chisel Artists Guild uses this site to run a public-facing carving community, a consent-based waitlist, member account tools, and a moderated idea board. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to ask for an update or removal.

Last updated: March 23, 2026

Short version

We do not currently run third-party analytics or marketing trackers on this site. We do use a strictly necessary session cookie for account sign-in, and we collect specific information when you join the waitlist, post to the Build the Guild board, or create an account.

The carver directory includes information compiled from publicly available sources. It is not a statement of membership or endorsement. To update or remove a listing, email admin@ccaguild.com.

Why we process data

Depending on the feature, we rely on your consent, our legitimate interests in operating a professional carving directory and community, and security-related necessities such as abuse prevention and account protection.

Questions or requests

Email admin@ccaguild.com if you want to update, remove, correct, or ask about personal information connected to this site.

Categories of information

  • Directory information: names, business names, location details, carving type, websites, and notes compiled from publicly available sources for the Carver Directory.
  • Waitlist information: name, email address, consent status, consent timestamp, source, and created timestamp when you opt in to guild updates.
  • Board information: name, public message content, created timestamp, and IP address for spam prevention when you post to Build the Guild.
  • Account information: account email, authentication/session data, and security-related records needed to run sign-in, verification, and protected member features.

Public-source directory data

The Carver Directory was compiled from publicly available sources to help carvers, collectors, and event organizers discover working artists across North America. Listing information is not a statement of membership, endorsement, or affiliation unless explicitly marked otherwise.

If you appear in the directory and want your listing updated or removed, email admin@ccaguild.com. We use that channel to review removal and correction requests.

We aim to display conservative public-facing fields only. We do not intentionally publish private residential details in the site directory.

Build the Guild submissions

Waitlist: If you join the founding waitlist, we collect your name and email address only after you actively opt in to receive updates. We use that information to send launch and guild-related update emails. Marketing emails should include a working unsubscribe path.

Public board: If you post to the Build the Guild board, your name and message are displayed publicly. We also log your IP address to prevent abuse and rate-limit posting. Early contributors who later join as members may be recognized with a Founding Collaborator badge.

Please do not post sensitive personal information to the board. Messages are public by design.

Authentication and site operation

If you create an account or sign in, we use a session cookie to keep you authenticated and to protect member-only areas of the site. This cookie is used for authentication only.

We do not currently use third-party analytics or marketing tracker scripts on the site. If that changes, this policy should be updated and any additional consent requirements should be reviewed before those trackers are enabled.

How long we keep information

  • Board post IP addresses: retained for up to 90 days for abuse control, then deleted or transformed for lower-risk retention.
  • Waitlist records: retained until you ask for removal, unsubscribe where applicable, or the record has been inactive for up to 2 years.
  • Session cookies: expire after 30 days unless cleared sooner.
  • Public board content: may remain visible until removed, moderated, or archived.
  • Directory information: retained while the directory is operated unless a listing is updated or removed.

Access, updates, and removal

You can request to correct, remove, or ask about your information by emailing admin@ccaguild.com. If you no longer want guild updates, use the unsubscribe method in the email or contact us directly.

If you are asking about a public directory listing, include enough detail for us to identify the record, such as the listing name and any known location details.

How to reach us

Questions about this policy or requests about your information can be sent to admin@ccaguild.com.

If our data practices change materially, we should update this page with a new effective date.
